Bismillah al rahman al rahim

الٓر ۚ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ Arabic Alif Lam Ra These are the verses of the Scripture, a Qur'an that makes things clear. English - Abdel Haleem

رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ Arabic The disbelievers may well come to wish they had submitted to God, English - Abdel Haleem

ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا۟ وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَيُلْهِهِمُ ٱلْأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ Arabic So [Prophet] leave them to eat and enjoy themselves. Let [false] hopes distract them: they will come to know. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ Arabic Never have We destroyed a community that did not have a set time; English - Abdel Haleem

مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ Arabic No community can bring its time forward, nor delay it. English - Abdel Haleem

وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌۭ Arabic They say, ‘Receiver of this Qur'an! You are definitely mad. English - Abdel Haleem

لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ Arabic Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are telling the truth?’ English - Abdel Haleem

مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًۭا مُّنظَرِينَ Arabic But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then these people will not be reprieved. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ Arabic We have sent down the Qur'an Ourself, and We Ourself will guard it. Even before you [Prophet], English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic We sent messengers among the various communities of old, English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ Arabic But they mocked every single messenger that came to them: English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ Arabic In this way We make the message slip through the hearts of evildoers. English - Abdel Haleem

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic They will not believe in it. That was what happened with the peoples of long ago, English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ Arabic And even if We opened a gateway into Heaven for them and they rose through it, higher and higher, English - Abdel Haleem

لَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌۭ مَّسْحُورُونَ Arabic They would still say, ‘Our eyes are hallucinating. We are bewitched.’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًۭا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ Arabic We have set constellations up in the sky and made it beautiful for all to see, English - Abdel Haleem

وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ رَّجِيمٍ Arabic And guarded it from every stoned satan: English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ Arabic Any eavesdropper will be pursued by a clearly visible flame. English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ مَّوْزُونٍۢ Arabic As for the earth, We have spread it out, set firm mountains on it, and made everything grow there in due balance. English - Abdel Haleem

وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ Arabic We have provided sustenance in it for you and for all those creatures for whom you do not provide. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ Arabic There is not a thing whose storehouses are not with Us. We send it down only according to a well-defined measure: English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ Arabic We send the winds to fertilize, and We bring down water from the sky for you to drink– you do not control its sources. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْىِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ Arabic It is We who give life and death; it is We who inherit [everything]. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ Arabic We know exactly those of you who come first and those who come later. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌۭ Arabic [Prophet], it is your Lord who will gather them all together: He is all wise, all knowing. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍۢ مِّنْ حَمَإٍۢ مَّسْنُونٍۢ Arabic We created man out of dried clay formed from dark mud– English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ Arabic The jinn We created before, from the fire of scorching wind. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًۭا مِّن صَلْصَٰلٍۢ مِّنْ حَمَإٍۢ مَّسْنُونٍۢ Arabic Your Lord said to the angels, ‘I will create a mortal out of dried clay, formed from dark mud. English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ Arabic When I have fashioned him and breathed My spirit into him, bow down before him,’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ Arabic And the angels all did so. English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ Arabic But not Iblis: he refused to bow down like the others. English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ Arabic God said, ‘Iblis, why did you not bow down like the others?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍۢ مِّنْ حَمَإٍۢ مَّسْنُونٍۢ Arabic And he answered, ‘I will not bow to a mortal You created from dried clay, formed from dark mud.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌۭ Arabic ‘Get out of here!’ said God. ‘You are an outcast, English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ ٱللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ Arabic Rejected until the Day of Judgement.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ Arabic Iblis said, ‘My Lord, give me respite until the Day when they are raised from the dead.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ Arabic ‘You have respite,’ said God, English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ Arabic ‘until the Day of the Appointed Time.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic Iblis then said to God, ‘Because You have put me in the wrong, I will lure mankind on earth and put them in the wrong, English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Arabic All except Your devoted servants.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ Arabic God said, ‘[Devotion] is a straight path to Me: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ Arabic You will have no power over My servants, only over the ones who go astray and follow you. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic Hell is the promised place for all these, English - Abdel Haleem

لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍۢ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌۭ مَّقْسُومٌ Arabic With seven gates, each gate having its allotted share of them. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍ Arabic But the righteous will be in Gardens with springs– English - Abdel Haleem

ٱدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ Arabic “Enter them in peace and safety!”–– English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ Arabic And We shall remove any bitterness from their hearts: [they will be like] brothers, sitting on couches, face to face. English - Abdel Haleem

لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌۭ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ Arabic No weariness will ever touch them there, nor will they ever be expelled.’ English - Abdel Haleem

نَبِّئْ عِبَادِىٓ أَنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic [Prophet], tell My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful, English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ Arabic But My torment is the truly painful one. English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Arabic Tell them too about Abraham’s guests: English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًۭا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ Arabic When they came to him and said, ‘Peace,’ he said, ‘We are afraid of you.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍۢ Arabic ‘Do not be afraid,’ they said, ‘We bring you good news of a son who will have great knowledge.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ Arabic He said, ‘How can you give me such news when old age has come to me? What sort of news is this?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْقَٰنِطِينَ Arabic They said, ‘We have told you the truth, so do not despair.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ Arabic He said, ‘Who but the misguided despair of the mercy of their Lord?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ Arabic And then asked, ‘Messengers, what is your errand?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍۢ مُّجْرِمِينَ Arabic They replied, ‘We have been sent to a people who are guilty.’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic But We shall save the household of Lot, English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ Arabic All except his wife: We have decreed that she will be one of those who stay behind. English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ Arabic When the messengers came to the household of Lot, English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌۭ مُّنكَرُونَ Arabic He said, ‘You are strangers.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ Arabic They said, ‘We have brought you what they said would never happen: English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ Arabic We have brought you the Truth. We speak truly, English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌۭ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ Arabic So leave in the dead of the night with your household, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded.’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌۭ مُّصْبِحِينَ Arabic We made this decree known to him: the last remnants of those people would be wiped out in the morning. English - Abdel Haleem

وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ Arabic The people of the town came along, revelling, English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ Arabic And he told them, ‘These are my guests, do not disgrace me. English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ Arabic Fear God, and do not shame me.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic They answered, ‘Have we not told you not to interfere [between us and] anyone else?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ Arabic He said, ‘My daughters are here, if you must.’ English - Abdel Haleem

لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ Arabic By your life [Prophet], they wandered on in their wild intoxication English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ Arabic And the blast overtook them at sunrise: English - Abdel Haleem

فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةًۭ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ Arabic We turned their city upside down and rained on them a shower of clay stones. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this for those who can learn– English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍۢ مُّقِيمٍ Arabic It is still there on the highway– English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this for those who believe. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ Arabic The forest-dwellers, too, were wrongdoers English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ Arabic And We took retribution on them; both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْحِجْرِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: English - Abdel Haleem

وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ Arabic We gave them Our signs, but they turned their backs. English - Abdel Haleem

وَكَانُوا۟ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ Arabic They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security– English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ Arabic The blast overwhelmed them early in the morning. English - Abdel Haleem

فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ Arabic What they had gained was of no use to them. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌۭ ۖ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ Arabic We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them without a true purpose: the Hour will certainly come, so [Prophet] bear with them graciously. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ Arabic Your Lord is the All Knowing Creator. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ Arabic We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the whole glorious Qur'an. English - Abdel Haleem

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًۭا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic Do not look longingly at the good things We have given some to enjoy. Do not grieve over the [disbelievers], but lower your wings over the believers English - Abdel Haleem

وَقُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلْمُبِينُ Arabic And say, ‘I am here to give plain warning,’ English - Abdel Haleem

كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ Arabic Like the [warning] We have sent down for those who divide themselves into bands English - Abdel Haleem

ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ Arabic And abuse the Qur'an –– English - Abdel Haleem

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic By your Lord, We will question them all English - Abdel Haleem

عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ Arabic About their deeds. English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ Arabic So proclaim openly what you have been commanded [to say], and ignore the idolaters. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ Arabic We are enough for you against all those who ridicule your message, English - Abdel Haleem

ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ Arabic Who set up another god beside God– they will come to know. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ Arabic We are well aware that your heart is weighed down by what they say. English - Abdel Haleem

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ Arabic Celebrate the glory of your Lord and be among those who bow down to Him: English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ Arabic Worship your Lord until what is certain comes to you. English - Abdel Haleem
