طسٓمٓ Arabic Ta Sin Mim English - Abdel Haleem

تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ Arabic These are the verses of the Scripture that makes things clear: English - Abdel Haleem

لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٌۭ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic [Prophet], are you going to worry yourself to death because they will not believe? English - Abdel Haleem

إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةًۭ فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ Arabic If We had wished, We could have sent them down a sign from heaven, at which their necks would stay bowed in utter humility. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ Arabic Whenever they are brought a new revelation from the Lord of Mercy, they turn away: English - Abdel Haleem

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ Arabic They deny it, but the truth of what they scorned will soon hit them. English - Abdel Haleem

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍۢ كَرِيمٍ Arabic Do they not see the earth, and what noble kinds of thing We grow in it? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ Arabic Your Lord called to Moses: ‘Go to those wrongdoers, English - Abdel Haleem

قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ Arabic The people of Pharaoh. Will they not take heed?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ Arabic Moses said, ‘My Lord, I fear they will call me a liar, English - Abdel Haleem

وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَ Arabic And I will feel stressed and tongue-tied, so send Aaron too; English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌۭ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ Arabic Besides, they have a charge against me, and I fear they may kill me.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ Arabic God said, ‘No [they will not]. Go, both of you, with Our signs––We shall be with you, listening. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Go, both of you, to Pharaoh and say, “We bring a message from the Lord of the Worlds: English - Abdel Haleem

أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Arabic Let the Children of Israel leave with us.” ’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًۭا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ Arabic Pharaoh said, ‘Did we not bring you up as a child among us? Did you not stay with us for many years? English - Abdel Haleem

وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ Arabic And then you committed that crime of yours: you were so ungrateful.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًۭا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ Arabic Moses replied, ‘I was misguided when I did it English - Abdel Haleem

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًۭا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic And I fled from you in fear; later my Lord gave me wisdom and made me one of His messengers. English - Abdel Haleem

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌۭ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Arabic And is this– that you have enslaved the Children of Israel– the favour with which you reproach me?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Pharaoh asked, ‘What is this “Lord of the Worlds”?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ Arabic Moses replied, ‘He is the Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them. If you would only have faith!’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ Arabic Pharaoh said to those present, ‘Do you hear what he says?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic Moses said, ‘He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌۭ Arabic Pharaoh said, ‘This messenger who has been sent to you is truly possessed.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ Arabic Moses continued, ‘Lord of the East and West and everything between them. If you would only use your reason!’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ Arabic But Pharaoh said [to him], ‘If you take any god other than me, I will throw you into prison,’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ Arabic And Moses asked, ‘Even if I show you something convincing?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ Arabic ‘Show it then,’ said Pharaoh, ‘if you are telling the truth.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ Arabic So Moses threw down his staff and– lo and behold!– it became a snake for everyone to see. English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ Arabic Then he drew out his hand and– lo and behold!– it was white for the onlookers to see. English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌۭ Arabic Pharaoh said to the counsellors around him, ‘This man is a learned sorcerer! English - Abdel Haleem

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ Arabic He means to use his sorcery to drive you out of your land! What do you suggest?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ Arabic They answered, ‘Delay him and his brother for a while, and send messengers to all the cities English - Abdel Haleem

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍۢ Arabic To bring every accomplished sorcerer to you.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ Arabic The sorcerers were [to be] assembled at the appointed time on a certain day English - Abdel Haleem

وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ Arabic And the people were asked, English - Abdel Haleem

لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ Arabic ‘Are you all coming? We may follow the sorcerers if they win!’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ Arabic When the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, ‘Shall we be rewarded if we win?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ Arabic And he said, ‘Yes, and you will join my inner court.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ Arabic Moses said to them, ‘Throw down whatever you will.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ Arabic They threw their ropes and staffs, saying, ‘By Pharaoh’s might, we shall be victorious.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ Arabic But Moses threw his staff and– lo and behold!– it swallowed up their trickery English - Abdel Haleem

فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ Arabic And the sorcerers fell down on their knees, English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Exclaiming, ‘We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, English - Abdel Haleem

رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ Arabic The Lord of Moses and Aaron.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍۢ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic Pharaoh said, ‘How dare you believe in him before I have given you permission? He must be the master who taught you sorcery! Soon you will see: I will cut off your alternate hands and feet and then crucify the lot of you!’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ Arabic ‘That will do us no harm,’ they said, ‘for we are sure to return to our Lord. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we were the first to believe.’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ Arabic Then We revealed Our will to Moses, ‘Leave with My servants by night, for you will be pursued!’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ Arabic Pharaoh sent messengers into the cities, proclaiming, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌۭ قَلِيلُونَ Arabic ‘These people are a puny band–– English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ Arabic They have enraged us– English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَٰذِرُونَ Arabic And we are a large army, on the alert.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَخْرَجْنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ Arabic So it was that We made them leave their gardens and their springs, English - Abdel Haleem

وَكُنُوزٍۢ وَمَقَامٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ Arabic Their treasures and their noble dwellings– English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Arabic We gave [such] things [later] to the Children of Israel. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ Arabic Pharaoh and his people pursued them at sunrise, English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ Arabic And as soon as the two sides came within sight of one another, Moses’ followers said, ‘We shall definitely be caught.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ Arabic Moses said, ‘No, my Lord is with me: He will guide me,’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍۢ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Arabic And We revealed to Moses: ‘Strike the sea with your staff.’ It parted– each side like a mighty mountain– English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ Arabic And We brought the others to that place: English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic We saved Moses and all his companions, English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ Arabic And drowned the rest. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Arabic Tell them the story of Abraham, English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ Arabic When he asked his father and his people, ‘What do you worship?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًۭا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ Arabic They said, ‘We worship idols, and are constantly in attendance on them.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ Arabic He asked, ‘Do they hear you when you call? English - Abdel Haleem

أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ Arabic Do they help or harm you?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ Arabic They replied, ‘No, but this is what we saw our fathers doing.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ Arabic Abraham said, ‘Those idols you have worshipped, English - Abdel Haleem

أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ Arabic You and your forefathers, English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Are my enemies; not so the Lord of the Worlds, English - Abdel Haleem

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ Arabic Who created me. It is He who guides me; English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ Arabic He who gives me food and drink; English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ Arabic He who cures me when I am ill; English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ Arabic He who will make me die and then give me life again; English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ Arabic And He who will, I hope, forgive my faults on the Day of Judgement. English - Abdel Haleem

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًۭا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ Arabic My Lord, grant me wisdom; join me with the righteous; English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍۢ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic Give me a good name among later generations; English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ Arabic Make me one of those given the Garden of Bliss– English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ Arabic Forgive my father, for he is one of those who have gone astray– English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ Arabic And do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected: English - Abdel Haleem

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌۭ وَلَا بَنُونَ Arabic The Day when neither wealth nor children can help, English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍۢ Arabic When the only one who will be saved is the one who comes before God with a heart devoted to Him.’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ Arabic When the Garden is brought near to the righteous English - Abdel Haleem

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ Arabic And the Fire is placed in full view of the misguided, English - Abdel Haleem

وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ Arabic It will be said to them, ‘Where are those you worshipped English - Abdel Haleem

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ Arabic Beside God? Can they help you now, or even help themselves?’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ Arabic And then they will all be hurled into Hell, together with those that misled them, English - Abdel Haleem

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ Arabic And all Iblis’s supporters. English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ Arabic There they will say to their gods, as they bicker among themselves, English - Abdel Haleem

تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍ Arabic ‘We were clearly misguided English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ Arabic It was the evildoers who led us astray, English - Abdel Haleem

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ Arabic And now we have no intercessor English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍۢ Arabic And no true friend. English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةًۭ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic If only we could live our lives again, we would be true believers!’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic The people of Noah, too, called the messengers liars. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Arabic Their brother Noah said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ Arabic I am a faithful messenger sent to you: English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic I ask no reward of you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds: English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ Arabic They answered, ‘Why should we believe you when the worst sort of people follow you?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ Arabic He said, ‘What knowledge do I have of what they used to do? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ Arabic It is for my Lord alone to bring them to account– if only you could see– English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic I will not drive believers away. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ Arabic I am here only to give people a clear warning.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ Arabic So they said, ‘Noah, if you do not stop this, you will be stoned.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ Arabic He said, ‘My Lord, my people have rejected me, English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًۭا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic So make a firm judgement between me and them, and save me and my believing followers.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ Arabic So We saved him and his followers in the fully laden ship, English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ Arabic And drowned the rest. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic The people of 'Ad, too, called the messengers liars. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Arabic Their brother Hud said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ Arabic I am a faithful messenger sent to you: English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic I ask no reward of you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds. English - Abdel Haleem

أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةًۭ تَعْبَثُونَ Arabic How can you be so vain that you set up monuments on every high place? English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ Arabic Do you build fortresses because you hope to be immortal? English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ Arabic Why do you act like tyrants whenever you attack someone? English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me; English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ Arabic Be mindful of Him who has provided you with everything you know– English - Abdel Haleem

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَٰمٍۢ وَبَنِينَ Arabic He has given you livestock, sons, English - Abdel Haleem

وَجَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍ Arabic Gardens, springs– English - Abdel Haleem

إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ Arabic For I truly fear that the torment of a grievous day will overtake you.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ Arabic They replied, ‘It makes no difference to us whether you warn us or not, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic For we only do what our forefathers used to do: English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ Arabic We shall not be punished.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic They denounced him as a liar, and so We destroyed them. There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic The people of Thamud, too, called the messengers liars. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Arabic Their brother Salih said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ Arabic I am a faithful messenger to you: English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic I ask no reward from you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds. English - Abdel Haleem

أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ Arabic [Do you think] you will be left secure for ever in what you have here– English - Abdel Haleem

فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ Arabic Gardens, springs, English - Abdel Haleem

وَزُرُوعٍۢ وَنَخْلٍۢ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌۭ Arabic Fields, palm trees laden with fruit– English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًۭا فَٰرِهِينَ Arabic Carving your fine houses from the mountains? English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me: English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ Arabic Do not obey those who are given to excess English - Abdel Haleem

ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ Arabic And who spread corruption in the land instead of doing what is right.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ Arabic They said, ‘You are bewitched! English - Abdel Haleem

مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ Arabic You are nothing but a man like us. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌۭ لَّهَا شِرْبٌۭ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ Arabic He said, ‘Here is a camel. She should have her turn to drink and so should you, each on a specified day, English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍۢ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ Arabic So do not harm her, or the punishment of a terrible day will befall you.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَٰدِمِينَ Arabic But they hamstrung her. In the morning they had cause to regret it: English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic The punishment fell upon them. There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic The people of Lot, too, called the messengers liars. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Arabic Their brother Lot said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ Arabic I am a faithful messenger to you: English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic I ask no reward from you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds. English - Abdel Haleem

أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Must you, unlike [other] people, lust after males English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ Arabic And abandon the wives that God has created for you? You are exceeding all bounds,’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ Arabic But they replied, ‘Lot! If you do not stop this, you will be driven away.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ Arabic So he said, ‘I loathe what you do: English - Abdel Haleem

رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ Arabic Lord, save me and my family from what they are doing.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic We saved him and all his family, English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ Arabic Except for an old woman who stayed behind, English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ Arabic Then We destroyed the others, English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًۭا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ Arabic And poured a rain of destruction down upon them. How dreadful that rain was for those who had been forewarned! English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic The forest-dwellers, too, called the messengers liars. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Arabic Shu'ayb said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ Arabic I am a faithful messenger to you: English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Arabic Be mindful of God and obey me. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic I ask no reward of you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds. English - Abdel Haleem

أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ Arabic Give full measure: do not sell others short. English - Abdel Haleem

وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ Arabic Weigh with correct scales: English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ Arabic Do not deprive people of what is theirs. Do not spread corruption on earth. English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic Be mindful of God who created you and former generations,’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ Arabic But they replied, ‘You are bewitched! English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ Arabic You are nothing but a man like us. In fact we think you are a liar. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ Arabic Make bits of the heavens fall down on us, if you are telling the truth.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ Arabic He said, ‘My Lord knows best what you do.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ Arabic They called him a liar, and so the torment of the Day of Shadow came upon them– it was the torment of a terrible day. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Arabic There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic Your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Truly, this Qur'an has been sent down by the Lord of the Worlds: English - Abdel Haleem

نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ Arabic The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down English - Abdel Haleem

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ Arabic To your heart [Prophet], so that you could bring warning English - Abdel Haleem

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّۢ مُّبِينٍۢ Arabic In a clear Arabic tongue. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic This was foretold in the scriptures of earlier religions. English - Abdel Haleem

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Arabic Is it not proof enough for them that the learned men of the Children of Israel have recognized it? English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ Arabic If We had sent it down to someone who was not an Arab, English - Abdel Haleem

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic And he had recited it to them, they still would not have believed in it. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ Arabic So We make it pass straight through the hearts of the guilty: English - Abdel Haleem

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ Arabic They will not believe in it until they see the grievous torment, English - Abdel Haleem

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةًۭ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ Arabic Which will suddenly hit them when they are not expecting it, English - Abdel Haleem

فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ Arabic And then they will say, ‘Can we have more time?’ English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ Arabic How can they ask that Our punishment be brought to them sooner? English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَٰهُمْ سِنِينَ Arabic Think, if we let them enjoy this life for some years English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ Arabic And then the promised torment came upon them, English - Abdel Haleem

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ Arabic What good would their past enjoyment be to them? English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ Arabic Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, English - Abdel Haleem

ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ Arabic As a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ Arabic It was not the jinn who brought down this Qur'an: English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ Arabic It is neither in their interests nor in their power, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ Arabic Indeed they are prevented from overhearing it. English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ Arabic So [Prophet] do not invoke any gods beside God, or you will incur punishment. English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ Arabic Warn your nearest kinsfolk English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic And lower your wing tenderly over the believers who follow you. English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌۭ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ Arabic If they disobey you, say, ‘I bear no responsibility for your actions.’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Arabic Put your trust in the Almighty, the Merciful, English - Abdel Haleem

ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ Arabic Who sees you when you stand up [for prayer] English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ Arabic And sees your movements among the worshippers: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ Arabic He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. English - Abdel Haleem

هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ Arabic Shall I tell you who the jinn come down to? English - Abdel Haleem

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍۢ Arabic They come down to every lying sinner English - Abdel Haleem

يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَٰذِبُونَ Arabic Who readily lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars: English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ Arabic Only those who are lost in error follow the poets. English - Abdel Haleem

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍۢ يَهِيمُونَ Arabic Do you not see how they rove aimlessly in every valley; English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ Arabic How they say what they do not do? English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍۢ يَنقَلِبُونَ Arabic Not so those [poets] who believe, do good deeds, remember God often, and defend themselves after they have been wronged. The evildoers will find out what they will return to. English - Abdel Haleem
