Bismillah al rahman al rahim

وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّۭا Arabic By those [angels] ranged in rows, English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًۭا Arabic Who rebuke reproachfully English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا Arabic And recite God’s word, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌۭ Arabic Truly your God is One, English - Abdel Haleem

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ Arabic Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them, Lord of every sunrise. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ Arabic We have adorned the lowest heaven with stars, English - Abdel Haleem

وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ Arabic And made them a safeguard against every rebellious devil: English - Abdel Haleem

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ Arabic They cannot eavesdrop on the Higher Assembly ––pelted from every side, English - Abdel Haleem

دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ Arabic Driven away, they will have perpetual torment–– English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ Arabic If any [of them] stealthily snatches away a fragment, he will be pursued by a piercing flame. English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ Arabic So [Prophet], ask the disbelievers: is it harder to create them than other beings We have created? We created them from sticky clay. English - Abdel Haleem

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ Arabic You marvel as they scoff, English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ Arabic Take no heed when they are warned, English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ Arabic And resort to ridicule when they see a sign, English - Abdel Haleem

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ Arabic Saying, ‘This is no more than blatant sorcery.’ English - Abdel Haleem

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ Arabic ‘What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we really be raised up again, English - Abdel Haleem

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ Arabic Along with our forefathers?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ Arabic Say, ‘Yes indeed, and you will be humiliated.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ Arabic Just one blast and––lo and behold!––they will look English - Abdel Haleem

وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ Arabic And say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgement.’ English - Abdel Haleem

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ Arabic [It will be said], ‘This is the Day of Decision, which you used to deny. English - Abdel Haleem

ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ Arabic [Angels], gather together those who did wrong, and others like them, as well as whatever they worshipped English - Abdel Haleem

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic Beside God, lead them all to the path of Hell, English - Abdel Haleem

وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ Arabic And halt them for questioning: English - Abdel Haleem

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ Arabic “Why do you not support each other now?” ’–– English - Abdel Haleem

بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ Arabic No indeed! They will be in complete submission on that Day–– English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ Arabic And they will turn on one another accusingly. English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ Arabic They will say, ‘You came to us from a position of power.’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic They will say, ‘No! It was you who would not believe– English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَٰغِينَ Arabic We had no power over you– and you were already exceeding all limits. English - Abdel Haleem

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ Arabic Our Lord’s sentence on us is just and we must all taste the punishment. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ Arabic We led you astray as we ourselves were astray.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ Arabic On that Day they will all share the torment: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ Arabic This is how We deal with the guilty. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ Arabic Whenever it was said to them, ‘There is no deity but God,’ they became arrogant, English - Abdel Haleem

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ Arabic And said, ‘Are we to forsake our gods for a mad poet?’ English - Abdel Haleem

بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic ‘No: he brought the truth and confirmed the earlier messengers; English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ Arabic You will taste the painful torment, English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Arabic And be repaid only according to your deeds.’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Arabic Not so God’s true servants. English - Abdel Haleem

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ Arabic They will have familiar provisions –– English - Abdel Haleem

فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ Arabic Fruits– and will be honoured English - Abdel Haleem

فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ Arabic In gardens of delight; English - Abdel Haleem

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ Arabic Seated on couches, facing one another. English - Abdel Haleem

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ Arabic A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: English - Abdel Haleem

بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍۢ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ Arabic White, delicious to those who taste it, English - Abdel Haleem

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ Arabic Causing no headiness or intoxication. English - Abdel Haleem

وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ Arabic With them will be spouses– modest of gaze and beautiful of eye– English - Abdel Haleem

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ Arabic Like protected eggs. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ Arabic They will turn to one another with questions: English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ Arabic One will say, ‘I had a close companion on earth English - Abdel Haleem

يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ Arabic Who used to ask me, “Do you really believe that English - Abdel Haleem

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ Arabic After we die and become dust and bone, we shall be brought for judgement?”’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ Arabic Then he will say, ‘Shall we look for him?’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic He will look down and see him in the midst of the Fire, English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ Arabic And say to him, ‘By God, you almost brought me to ruin! English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ Arabic Had it not been for the grace of my Lord, I too would have been taken to Hell.’ English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ Arabic Then he will say [to his blessed companions], ‘Are we never to die again after our earlier death? English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ Arabic Shall we never suffer? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ Arabic This truly is the supreme triumph!’ English - Abdel Haleem

لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ Arabic Everyone should strive to attain this. English - Abdel Haleem

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ Arabic Is this the better welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ Arabic Which we have made a test for the evildoers? English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic This tree grows in the heart of the blazing Fire, English - Abdel Haleem

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ Arabic And its fruits are like devils’ heads. English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ Arabic They will fill their bellies eating from it; English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ Arabic Then drink scalding water on top of it; English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic Then return to the blazing Fire. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ Arabic They found their forefathers astray, English - Abdel Haleem

فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ Arabic And rushed to follow in their footsteps– before the disbelievers [of Mecca], English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic Most men in the past went astray, English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ Arabic Even though We sent messengers to warn them. English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ Arabic See how those who were warned met their end! English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Arabic Not so the true servants of God. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ Arabic Noah cried to Us, and how excellent was Our response! English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Arabic We saved him and his people from great distress, English - Abdel Haleem

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ Arabic We let his offspring remain on the earth, English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic We let him be praised by later generations: English - Abdel Haleem

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic ‘Peace be upon Noah among all the nations!’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Arabic This is how We reward those who do good: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic He was truly one of Our faithful servants. English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ Arabic We drowned the rest. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ Arabic Abraham was of the same faith: English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ Arabic He came to his Lord with a devoted heart. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ Arabic He said to his father and his people, ‘What are you worshipping? English - Abdel Haleem

أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ Arabic How can you choose false gods instead of the true God? English - Abdel Haleem

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic So what is your opinion about the Lord of all the Worlds?’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ Arabic Then he looked up to the stars. English - Abdel Haleem

فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌۭ Arabic He said, ‘I am sick,’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ Arabic So [his people] turned away from him and left. English - Abdel Haleem

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ Arabic He turned to their gods and said, English - Abdel Haleem

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ Arabic ‘Do you not eat? Why do you not speak?’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ Arabic Then he turned and struck them with his right arm. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ Arabic His people hurried towards him, English - Abdel Haleem

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ Arabic But he said, ‘How can you worship things you carve with your own hands, English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ Arabic When it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic They said, ‘Build a pyre and throw him into the blazing fire.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ Arabic They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them. English - Abdel Haleem

وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ Arabic He said, ‘I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. English - Abdel Haleem

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ Arabic Lord, grant me a righteous son,’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍۢ Arabic So We gave him the good news that he would have a patient son. English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ Arabic When the boy was old enough to work with his father, Abraham said, ‘My son, I have seen myself sacrificing you in a dream. What do you think?’ He said, ‘Father, do as you are commanded and, God willing, you will find me steadfast.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ Arabic When they had both submitted to God, and he had laid his son down on the side of his face, English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ Arabic We called out to him, ‘Abraham, English - Abdel Haleem

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Arabic You have fulfilled the dream.’ This is how We reward those who do good– English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ Arabic It was a test to prove [their true characters]– English - Abdel Haleem

وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍۢ Arabic We ransomed his son with a momentous sacrifice, English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic And We let him be praised by succeeding generations: English - Abdel Haleem

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Arabic ‘Peace be upon Abraham!’ English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Arabic This is how We reward those who do good: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic Truly he was one of Our faithful servants. English - Abdel Haleem

وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ Arabic We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac– a prophet and a righteous man– English - Abdel Haleem

وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌۭ وَظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌۭ Arabic And blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly wronged themselves. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ Arabic We also bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron: English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Arabic We saved them and their people from great distress; English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ Arabic We helped them, so they were the ones to succeed; English - Abdel Haleem

وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ Arabic We gave them the Scripture that makes things clear; English - Abdel Haleem

وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ Arabic We guided them to the right path; English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic We let them be praised by succeeding generations: English - Abdel Haleem

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ Arabic ‘Peace be upon Moses and Aaron!’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Arabic This is how We reward those who do good: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic Truly they were among Our faithful servants. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic Elijah too was one of the messengers. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Arabic He said to his people, ‘Have you no fear of God? English - Abdel Haleem

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ Arabic How can you invoke Baal and forsake the Most Gracious Creator, English - Abdel Haleem

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic God, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ Arabic But they rejected him. They will be brought to punishment as a consequence; English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Arabic Not so the true servants of God. English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic We let him be praised by succeeding generations: English - Abdel Haleem

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ Arabic ‘Peace be to Elijah!’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Arabic This is how We reward those who do good: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Arabic Truly he was one of Our faithful servants. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ لُوطًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic Lot was also one of the messengers. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ Arabic We saved him and all his family– English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ Arabic Except for an old woman who stayed behind– English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ Arabic And We destroyed the rest. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ Arabic You [people] pass by their ruins morning English - Abdel Haleem

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ Arabic And night: will you not take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic Jonah too was one of the messengers. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ Arabic He fled to the overloaded ship. English - Abdel Haleem

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ Arabic They cast lots, he suffered defeat, English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ Arabic And a great fish swallowed him, for he had committed blameworthy acts. English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ Arabic If he had not been one of those who glorified God, English - Abdel Haleem

لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ Arabic He would have stayed in its belly until the Day when all are raised up, English - Abdel Haleem

فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌۭ Arabic But We cast him out, sick, on to a barren shore, English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةًۭ مِّن يَقْطِينٍۢ Arabic And made a gourd tree grow above him. English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ Arabic We sent him to a hundred thousand people or more. English - Abdel Haleem

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ Arabic They believed, so We let them live out their lives. English - Abdel Haleem

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ Arabic Now [Muhammad], ask the disbelievers: is it true that your Lord has daughters, while they choose sons for themselves? English - Abdel Haleem

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ Arabic Did We create the angels as females while they were watching? English - Abdel Haleem

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ Arabic No indeed! It is one of their lies when they say, English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ Arabic ‘God has begotten.’ How they lie! English - Abdel Haleem

أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ Arabic Did He truly choose daughters in preference to sons? English - Abdel Haleem

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ Arabic What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgements? English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ Arabic Do you not reflect? English - Abdel Haleem

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ Arabic Do you perhaps have clear authority? English - Abdel Haleem

فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ Arabic Bring your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. English - Abdel Haleem

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًۭا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ Arabic They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be brought before Him. English - Abdel Haleem

سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ Arabic God is far above what they attribute to Him– English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Arabic The true servants of God do not do such things– English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ Arabic And neither you nor what you worship English - Abdel Haleem

مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ Arabic Can lure away from God any English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic Except those who will burn in Hell. English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ Arabic [The angels say], ‘Every single one of us has his appointed place: English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ Arabic We are ranged in ranks. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ Arabic We glorify God.’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ Arabic [The disbelievers] used to say, English - Abdel Haleem

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic ‘If only we had a scripture like previous people, English - Abdel Haleem

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Arabic We would be true servants of God,’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ Arabic Yet now they reject [the Qur'an]. They will soon realize. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic Our word has already been given to Our servants the messengers: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ Arabic It is they who will be helped, English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ Arabic And the ones who support Our cause will be the winners. English - Abdel Haleem

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ Arabic So [Prophet] turn away from the disbelievers for a while. English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ Arabic Watch them: they will soon see. English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ Arabic Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? English - Abdel Haleem

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ Arabic When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ Arabic [Prophet], turn away from the disbelievers for a while. English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ Arabic Watch them: they will soon see. English - Abdel Haleem

سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ Arabic Your Lord, the Lord of Glory, is far above what they attribute to Him. English - Abdel Haleem

وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Arabic Peace be upon the messengers English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic And praise be to God the Lord of all the Worlds. English - Abdel Haleem
