52. Surah At-Tour
The Mount
وَٱلطُّورِ Arabic
By the mountain, English - Abdel Haleem
وَكِتَٰبٍۢ مَّسْطُورٍۢ Arabic
By a Scripture inscribed English - Abdel Haleem
فِى رَقٍّۢ مَّنشُورٍۢ Arabic
In unrolled parchment, English - Abdel Haleem
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ Arabic
By the much-visited House, English - Abdel Haleem
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ Arabic
By the raised canopy, English - Abdel Haleem
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ Arabic
By the ocean ever filled, English - Abdel Haleem
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ Arabic
[Prophet], your Lord’s punishment is coming–– English - Abdel Haleem
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍۢ Arabic
It cannot be put off–– English - Abdel Haleem
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًۭا Arabic
On the Day when the sky sways back and forth English - Abdel Haleem
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًۭا Arabic
And the mountains float away. English - Abdel Haleem
فَوَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Arabic
Woe on that Day to those who deny the Truth, English - Abdel Haleem
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍۢ يَلْعَبُونَ Arabic
Who amuse themselves with idle chatter: English - Abdel Haleem
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا Arabic
On that Day they will be thrust into the Fire of Hell. English - Abdel Haleem
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ Arabic
‘This is the Fire you used to deny. English - Abdel Haleem
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ Arabic
So is this sorcery? Do you still not see it? English - Abdel Haleem
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Arabic
Burn in it––it makes no difference whether you bear it patiently or not–– you are only being repaid for what you have done.’ English - Abdel Haleem
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَعِيمٍۢ Arabic
Those who were mindful of God are in Gardens and in bliss, English - Abdel Haleem
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Arabic
Rejoicing in their Lord’s gifts: He has saved them from the torment of the Blaze, English - Abdel Haleem
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Arabic
‘Eat and drink with healthy enjoyment as a reward for what you have done.’ English - Abdel Haleem
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍۢ Arabic
They are comfortably seated on couches arranged in rows; We pair them with beautiful-eyed maidens; English - Abdel Haleem
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌۭ Arabic
We unite the believers with their offspring who followed them in faith–– We do not deny them any of the rewards for their deeds: each person is in pledge for his own deeds–– English - Abdel Haleem
وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍۢ وَلَحْمٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ Arabic
We provide them with any fruit or meat they desire. English - Abdel Haleem
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًۭا لَّا لَغْوٌۭ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌۭ Arabic
They pass around a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. English - Abdel Haleem
وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌۭ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ Arabic
Devoted youths like hidden pearls wait on them. English - Abdel Haleem
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ Arabic
They turn to one another and say, English - Abdel Haleem
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ Arabic
‘When we were still with our families [on earth] we used to live in fear–– English - Abdel Haleem
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ Arabic
God has been gracious to us and saved us from the torment of intense heat– English - Abdel Haleem
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Arabic
We used to pray to Him: He is the Good, the Merciful One.’ English - Abdel Haleem
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍۢ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ Arabic
So [Prophet] remind [people]. By the grace of your Lord [Prophet], you are neither oracle nor madman. English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌۭ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ Arabic
If they say, ‘He is only a poet: we shall await his fate,’ English - Abdel Haleem
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ Arabic
Say, ‘Wait if you wish; I too am waiting’– English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌۭ طَاغُونَ Arabic
Does their reason really tell them to do this, or are they simply insolent people? English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ Arabic
If they say, ‘He has made it up himself ’– they certainly do not believe– English - Abdel Haleem
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ Arabic
Let them produce one like it, if what they say is true. English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ Arabic
Were they created without any agent? Were they the creators? English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ Arabic
Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They do not have faith. English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ Arabic
Do they possess your Lord’s treasures or have control over them? English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌۭ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍ Arabic
Do they have a ladder to climb, in order to eavesdrop [on Heaven’s secrets]? Let their eavesdropper produce clear proof. English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ Arabic
Does God have daughters while you have sons? English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ Arabic
Do you [Prophet] demand a payment from them that would burden them with debt? English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ Arabic
Do they have [access to] the unseen? Could they write it down? English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًۭا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ Arabic
Do they think they can ensnare you? It is the disbelievers who have been ensnared. English - Abdel Haleem
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ Arabic
Do they really have another god besides God? God is far above anything they set alongside Him. English - Abdel Haleem
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًۭا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌۭ مَّرْكُومٌۭ Arabic
Even if they saw a piece of heaven falling down on them, they would say, ‘Just a heap of clouds,’ English - Abdel Haleem
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ Arabic
So leave them, Prophet, until they face the Day when they will be thunderstruck, English - Abdel Haleem
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ Arabic
The Day when their snares will be of no use to them, when they will get no help. English - Abdel Haleem
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًۭا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Arabic
Another punishment awaits the evildoers, though most of them do not realize it. English - Abdel Haleem
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ Arabic
Wait patiently [Prophet] for your Lord’s judgement: you are under Our watchful eye. Celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise. English - Abdel Haleem
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ Arabic
Glorify Him at night and at the fading of the stars. English - Abdel Haleem
