Bismillah al rahman al rahim

ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ Arabic The Hour draws near; the moon is split in two. English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌۭ مُّسْتَمِرٌّۭ Arabic Whenever the disbelievers see a sign, they turn away and say, ‘Same old sorcery!’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍۢ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ Arabic They reject the truth and follow their own desires––everything is recorded –– English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ Arabic Although warning tales that should have restrained them have come down to them–– English - Abdel Haleem

حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ Arabic Far-reaching wisdom––but these warnings do not help: English - Abdel Haleem

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ نُّكُرٍ Arabic So [Prophet] turn away from them. On the Day the Summoner will summon them to a horrific event, English - Abdel Haleem

خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌۭ مُّنتَشِرٌۭ Arabic Eyes downcast, they will come out of their graves like swarming locusts English - Abdel Haleem

مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌۭ Arabic Rushing towards the Summoner. The disbelievers will cry, ‘This is a stern day!’ English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌۭ وَٱزْدُجِرَ Arabic The people of Noah rejected the truth before them: they rejected Our servant, saying, ‘He is mad!’ Noah was rebuked, English - Abdel Haleem

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌۭ فَٱنتَصِرْ Arabic And so he called upon his Lord, ‘I am defeated: help me!’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍۢ مُّنْهَمِرٍۢ Arabic So We opened the gates of the sky with torrential water, English - Abdel Haleem

وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًۭا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍۢ قَدْ قُدِرَ Arabic Burst the earth with gushing springs: the waters met for a preordained purpose. English - Abdel Haleem

وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍۢ وَدُسُرٍۢ Arabic We carried him along on a vessel of planks and nails English - Abdel Haleem

تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءًۭ لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ Arabic That floated under Our watchful eye, a reward for the one who had been rejected. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةًۭ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ Arabic We have left this as a sign: will anyone take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ Arabic How [terrible] was My punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings! English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ Arabic We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Qur'an: will anyone take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌۭ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ Arabic The people of 'Ad also rejected the truth. How [terrible] was My punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings! English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا صَرْصَرًۭا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍۢ مُّسْتَمِرٍّۢ Arabic We released a howling wind against them on a day of terrible disaster; English - Abdel Haleem

تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍۢ مُّنقَعِرٍۢ Arabic It swept people away like uprooted palm trunks. English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ Arabic How [terrible] was My punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings! English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ Arabic We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Qur'an: will anyone take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ Arabic The people of Thamud also rejected the warnings: English - Abdel Haleem

فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًۭا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًۭا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًۭا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍ Arabic They said, ‘What? A man? Why should we follow a lone man from amongst ourselves? That would be misguided; quite insane! English - Abdel Haleem

أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌۭ Arabic Would a message be given to him alone out of all of us? No, he is an insolent liar!’ English - Abdel Haleem

سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًۭا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ Arabic ‘Tomorrow they will know who is the insolent liar, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةًۭ لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ Arabic For We shall send them a she-camel to test them: so watch them [Salih] and be patient. English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍۢ مُّحْتَضَرٌۭ Arabic Tell them the water is to be shared between them: each one should drink in turn.’ English - Abdel Haleem

فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ Arabic But they called their companion, who took a sword and hamstrung the camel. English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ Arabic How [terrible] was My punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings! English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ Arabic We released a single mighty blast against them and they ended up like a fencemaker’s dry sticks. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ Arabic We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Qur'an: will anyone take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ Arabic The people of Lot rejected the warnings. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍۢ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٍۢ Arabic We released a stonebearing wind against them, all except the family of Lot. We saved them before dawn English - Abdel Haleem

نِّعْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ Arabic As a favour from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ Arabic He warned them of Our onslaught, but they dismissed the warning– English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ Arabic They even demanded his guests from him– so We sealed their eyes–‘ Taste My [terrible] punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings!’– English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌۭ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ Arabic And early in the morning a punishment seized them that still remains– English - Abdel Haleem

فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ Arabic ‘Taste My [terrible] punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings!’ English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ Arabic We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Qur'an: will anyone take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ Arabic The people of Pharaoh also received warnings. English - Abdel Haleem

كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍ Arabic They rejected all Our signs so We seized them with all Our might and power. English - Abdel Haleem

أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌۭ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ Arabic ‘Are your disbelievers any better than these? Were you given an exemption in the Scripture?’ English - Abdel Haleem

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌۭ مُّنتَصِرٌۭ Arabic Do they perhaps say, ‘We are a great army and we shall be victorious’? English - Abdel Haleem

سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ Arabic Their forces will be routed and they will turn tail and flee. English - Abdel Haleem

بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ Arabic But the Hour is their appointed time– the Hour is more severe and bitter: English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍۢ Arabic Truly the wicked are misguided and quite insane –– English - Abdel Haleem

يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ Arabic On the Day when they are dragged on their faces in Hell. ‘Feel the touch of Hell.’ English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍۢ Arabic We have created all things in due measure; English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌۭ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ Arabic When We ordain something it happens at once, in the blink of an eye; English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ Arabic We have destroyed the likes of you in the past. Will anyone take heed? English - Abdel Haleem

وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍۢ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ Arabic Everything they do is noted in their records: English - Abdel Haleem

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍۢ وَكَبِيرٍۢ مُّسْتَطَرٌ Arabic Every action, great or small, is recorded. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَهَرٍۢ Arabic The righteous will live securely among Gardens and rivers, English - Abdel Haleem

فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ Arabic Secure in the presence of an all-powerful Sovereign. English - Abdel Haleem
