Al-Waqi'a | The Event | الواقيـة 56. Surah Al-Waqi'a The Event

Bismillah al rahman al rahim

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ Arabic When that which is coming arrives, English - Abdel Haleem

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ Arabic No one will be able to deny it has come, English - Abdel Haleem

خَافِضَةٌۭ رَّافِعَةٌ Arabic Bringing low and raising high. English - Abdel Haleem

إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّۭا Arabic When the earth is shaken violently English - Abdel Haleem

وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّۭا Arabic And the mountains are ground to powder English - Abdel Haleem

فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءًۭ مُّنۢبَثًّۭا Arabic And turn to scattered dust, English - Abdel Haleem

وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا ثَلَٰثَةًۭ Arabic Then you will be sorted into three classes. English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ Arabic Those on the Right––what people they are! English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ Arabic Those on the Left––what people they are! English - Abdel Haleem

وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ Arabic And those in front––ahead indeed! English - Abdel Haleem

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ Arabic For these will be the ones brought nearest to God English - Abdel Haleem

فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ Arabic In Gardens of Bliss: English - Abdel Haleem

ثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic Many from the past English - Abdel Haleem

وَقَلِيلٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic And a few from later generations. English - Abdel Haleem

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ Arabic On couches of well-woven cloth English - Abdel Haleem

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ Arabic They will sit facing each other; English - Abdel Haleem

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌۭ مُّخَلَّدُونَ Arabic Everlasting youths will go round among them English - Abdel Haleem

بِأَكْوَابٍۢ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۢ Arabic With glasses, flagons, and cups of a pure drink English - Abdel Haleem

لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ Arabic That causes no headache or intoxication; English - Abdel Haleem

وَفَٰكِهَةٍۢ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ Arabic [there will be] any fruit they choose; English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ Arabic The meat of any bird they like; English - Abdel Haleem

وَحُورٌ عِينٌۭ Arabic And beautiful companions English - Abdel Haleem

كَأَمْثَٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ Arabic Like hidden pearls: English - Abdel Haleem

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ Arabic A reward for what they used to do. English - Abdel Haleem

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا Arabic They will hear no idle or sinful talk there, English - Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا قِيلًۭا سَلَٰمًۭا سَلَٰمًۭا Arabic Only clean and wholesome speech. English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ Arabic Those on the Right, what people they are! English - Abdel Haleem

فِى سِدْرٍۢ مَّخْضُودٍۢ Arabic They will dwell amid thornless lote trees English - Abdel Haleem

وَطَلْحٍۢ مَّنضُودٍۢ Arabic And clustered acacia English - Abdel Haleem

وَظِلٍّۢ مَّمْدُودٍۢ Arabic With spreading shade, English - Abdel Haleem

وَمَآءٍۢ مَّسْكُوبٍۢ Arabic Constantly flowing water, English - Abdel Haleem

وَفَٰكِهَةٍۢ كَثِيرَةٍۢ Arabic Abundant fruits, English - Abdel Haleem

لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍۢ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍۢ Arabic Unfailing, unforbidden, English - Abdel Haleem

وَفُرُشٍۢ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ Arabic With incomparable companions English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءًۭ Arabic We have specially created–– English - Abdel Haleem

فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا Arabic Virginal, English - Abdel Haleem

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًۭا Arabic Loving, of matching age–– English - Abdel Haleem

لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ Arabic For those on the Right, English - Abdel Haleem

ثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Arabic Many from the past English - Abdel Haleem

وَثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic And many from later generations. English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ Arabic But those on the Left, what people they are! English - Abdel Haleem

فِى سَمُومٍۢ وَحَمِيمٍۢ Arabic They will dwell amid scorching wind and scalding water English - Abdel Haleem

وَظِلٍّۢ مِّن يَحْمُومٍۢ Arabic In the shadow of black smoke, English - Abdel Haleem

لَّا بَارِدٍۢ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ Arabic Neither cool nor refreshing. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ Arabic Before, they overindulged in luxury English - Abdel Haleem

وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Arabic And persisted in great sin, English - Abdel Haleem

وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ Arabic Always saying, ‘What? When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be raised up? English - Abdel Haleem

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ Arabic And our earliest forefathers too?’ English - Abdel Haleem

قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْءَاخِرِينَ Arabic Say [Prophet], ‘The earliest and latest generations English - Abdel Haleem

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ Arabic Will all be gathered on a predetermined Day English - Abdel Haleem

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ Arabic And you who have gone astray and denied the truth English - Abdel Haleem

لَءَاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍۢ مِّن زَقُّومٍۢ Arabic Will eat from the bitter tree of Zaqqum, English - Abdel Haleem

فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ Arabic Filling your bellies with it, English - Abdel Haleem

فَشَٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ Arabic And drink scalding water, English - Abdel Haleem

فَشَٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ Arabic Lapping it like thirsty camels.’ English - Abdel Haleem

هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ Arabic This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. English - Abdel Haleem

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ Arabic It was We who created you: will you not believe? English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ Arabic Consider [the semen] you eject– English - Abdel Haleem

ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ Arabic Do you create it yourselves or are We the Creator? English - Abdel Haleem

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ Arabic We ordained death to be among you. Nothing could stop Us English - Abdel Haleem

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ Arabic If We intended to change you and recreate you in a way unknown to you. English - Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ Arabic You have learned how you were first created: will you not reflect? English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ Arabic Consider the seeds you sow in the ground– English - Abdel Haleem

ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ Arabic Is it you who make them grow or We? English - Abdel Haleem

لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَٰهُ حُطَٰمًۭا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ Arabic If We wished, We could turn your harvest into chaff and leave you to wail, English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ Arabic ‘We are burdened with debt; English - Abdel Haleem

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ Arabic We are bereft.’ English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ Arabic Consider the water you drink– English - Abdel Haleem

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ Arabic Was it you who brought it down from the rain-cloud or We? English - Abdel Haleem

لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَٰهُ أُجَاجًۭا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ Arabic If We wanted, We could make it bitter: will you not be thankful? English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ Arabic Consider the fire you kindle– English - Abdel Haleem

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ Arabic Is it you who make the wood for it grow or We? English - Abdel Haleem

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَٰهَا تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَمَتَٰعًۭا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ Arabic We made it a reminder, and useful to those who kindle it, English - Abdel Haleem

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Arabic So [Prophet] glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ Arabic I swear by the positions of the stars– English - Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌۭ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ Arabic A mighty oath, if you only knew– English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌۭ كَرِيمٌۭ Arabic That this is truly a noble Qur'an, English - Abdel Haleem

فِى كِتَٰبٍۢ مَّكْنُونٍۢ Arabic In a protected Record English - Abdel Haleem

لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ Arabic That only the purified can touch, English - Abdel Haleem

تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ Arabic Sent down from the Lord of all being. English - Abdel Haleem

أَفَبِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ Arabic How can you scorn this statement? English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ Arabic And how, in return for the livelihood you are given, can you deny it? English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ Arabic When the soul of a dying man comes up to his throat English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍۢ تَنظُرُونَ Arabic While you gaze on– English - Abdel Haleem

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ Arabic We are nearer to him than you, though you do not see Us– English - Abdel Haleem

فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ Arabic Why, if you are not to be judged, English - Abdel Haleem

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ Arabic Do you not restore his soul to him, if what you say is true? English - Abdel Haleem

فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ Arabic If that dying person is one of those who will be brought near to God, English - Abdel Haleem

فَرَوْحٌۭ وَرَيْحَانٌۭ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍۢ Arabic He will have rest, ease, and a Garden of Bliss; English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ Arabic If he is one of those on the Right, English - Abdel Haleem

فَسَلَٰمٌۭ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ Arabic [he will hear], ‘Peace be on you,’ from his companions on the Right; English - Abdel Haleem

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ Arabic But if he is one of those who denied the truth and went astray, English - Abdel Haleem

فَنُزُلٌۭ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ Arabic He will be welcomed with scalding water. English - Abdel Haleem

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ Arabic He will burn in Hell. English - Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ Arabic This is the certain truth: English - Abdel Haleem

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Arabic [Prophet], glorify the name of your Lord the Supreme. English - Abdel Haleem
